On Valentine’s Day, 826 co-founder and author Dave Eggers came to town to discuss his new book, The Monk of Mokha, with its subject Mokhtar Alkhanshali at a Harvard Book Store event.
Dave and Mokhtar were incredible storytellers, but the highlight for us was hearing 12th grader Agnes Ugoji open the event with some thoughts about her writing path with 826 Boston and her experiences as a poet. In honor of Black History Month, she performed one of her original poems, entitled “Drowning.” Agnes brought the audience to its feet in a standing ovation at First Parish Church in Cambridge.

A big thank you to Warby Parker in Harvard Square for hosting our pre-event reception, and to George Howell Coffee for providing a free coffee tasting.
