Pulitzer Prize-finalist Luis Alberto Urrea charmed guests at our 5th-annual Night of 1,000 Stories with tales of border-crossing, growing up in a bilingual family, and the importance of storytelling. At the end of the night, Urrea danced across the stage with 826 Boston’s student presenters Thierry Jacques, Haniyah Broadway, GianCarlos Arteaga, Agnes Ugoji, Stevelyn Desire, and Julia Teixeira.
Our fearless co-founder of 826 National, Dave Eggers, was on hand to recognize local design firm Continuum with a special award for service to 826 Boston. Over the past year, the firm donated their services to re-design 826 Boston’s website.
We also premiered a new video, “A Room Where I Can Be Who I Am” (Dir. Matt Watson), featuring Agnes Ugoji, a fearless slam poet who is a regular face at our Writers’ Room in the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science. Enjoy the film!
