Dru is a writer, photographer, and community event organizer of Brazilian heritage, born and raised in Boston. They grew up bouncing across various creative programs in the city and were first introduced to 826 Boston while competing in the Louder Than a Bomb slam poetry competition. Before joining 826 Boston’s Volunteer Management Team, Dru spent seven years collaborating with local musicians and visual artists at different venues across the DIY scene, producing large-scale multimedia events in Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, and Cambridge. In 2024, their work as a nightlife organizer was featured in Issue 12 of Boston Art Review (“Some Assembly Required”). They also coordinated a community meal program at Boston’s Church of the Advent and continue to keep their camera close, creating soft images with a deeply personal atmosphere. Dru is constantly narrativizing and looking for the story in everything. When they aren’t behind a screen, Dru can be found sewing, drawing, or daydreaming about fictional worlds, and they are always looking for opportunities to work with others in any creative venture.
