“Why I keep coming back to 826 Boston…”

November 8, 2025

Over this past year, we kept hearing from members of our community about why they are involved with 826 Boston, which inspired our annual appeal campaign: “Why I keep coming back to 826 Boston….”

We asked students, alumni, parents, guardians, volunteers, donors, partners, our boards, and our staff and we heard a wide variety of answers that we’ll share over the coming weeks, such as:

“I keep coming back to 826 Boston because my son thrives in this environment where he’s able to build leadership and feel confidence in his school work.” —Nefertiti, parent

“I keep coming back to 826 Boston because, as a former teacher myself, I know how important it is to have support in the classroom and strong school communities.” —Olivia, Writers’ Room Manager

“I keep coming back to 826 Boston because they are an organization that takes education really seriously.” —April, Board Member

That is the work of 826 Boston every day. Our programs are spaces of connection, belonging, and sharing that allow youth to discover the power of their voice and achieve their dreams.

We hope that you’ll “keep coming back,” too. Your donation will help us to:

• Maximize individualized support for students

• Reach new schools and students by launching partnerships with BPS schools on our waiting list who want 826 Boston programs.

• Expand the 826 Boston Alumni Network so that our thousands of alumni can “keep coming back” to the network, inspire current students as volunteers, and one day lead the organization.

We had the great fortune to work with Connelly Partners on this campaign, from developing our strategy to crafting emotional copy, to producing a series of films that allows our friends and supporters to see and hear why 826 Boston has such a postive effect on the city of Boston.

Thank you to Matt Watson for use of some of the beautiful video footage he has captured at 826 Boston (and all the films he has made for us through the years!)

Please invest in the future of 826 Boston so we can create more spaces that affirm the experiences of Boston youth and provide them with opportunities to amplify their voice, grow as leaders, and inspire change.
