826 Boston has been out and about in the City of Boston this October.
On Saturday, Bigfoot made its return to the Boston Book Festival in Copley Square. Bigfoot posed for photos and got quite a few laughs as passersby stopped to learn more about 826 Boston, purchase some student-authored books, or grab a new Greater Boston Bigfoot Research Institute t-shirt. Kids of all ages darted into the tent, excited to design their own interactive comic strips and gain a stamp for their festival passport.

On Sunday, we continued the festival in Dudley Square. Local families dropped by the Bruce C. Bolling Municipal Building to learn about 826 Boston, make their own comic strips, and check out some of our latest publications.
But the Boston Book Festival wasn’t the only celebration we participated in this month. On Indigenous Peoples’ Day, 826 Boston was at Evans Way Park for the 11th annual Opening Our Doors Festival.

Writers’ Room student Aisha, from Boston International Newcomers Academy, participated in the kick-off ceremony by sharing her short memoir, titled “I Will Always Love You.” Aisha recently came to the United States from Honduras. The piece she shared was published in the student-authored collection, Willing to Stand Up.
