On Tuesday, April 25, our Executive Director Jessica Drench, Commonwealth Corps service members, and other community leaders and partners gathered at the State House to celebrate Massachusetts Service Alliance’s (MSA) Service and Volunteerism Day.

Jessica took the podium to honor the three Commonwealth Corps members, Isata, Hannah, and Tara, who have made a huge impact on our Writers’ Room and After-School Tutoring and Writing Programs. Their dedication to improving and developing these programs has been essential to their success. Jessica also noted that their presence has encouraged volunteers and interns to seek service positions while service members have become interested in staff positions. Through our partnership with MSA and our relationship with these service members, our organization and our community have made great strides.

“As we add team members each year, it is very powerful to see the team build itself around the values of service and social justice,” Jessica said. “This makes our community even greater and stronger, and more purposeful.”
