METCO alumna Gloria Harrison and Carrie Clifford started their podcast, “Hard Candy and Fruit Snacks,” in an attempt to spark dialogue about racism, busing, and the inequality that exists between Black city and white suburban students. They wanted to use the new platform to support current METCO and Boston Public School students who are following in their footsteps.
Students submitted an essay about their dedication to social justice for their scholarship application. The primary goal of the scholarship is to support these students in their pursuit of higher education. Six students received $5,000 scholarships and five students received runner-up awards of $1,000.
Congratulations to all the college-bound seniors!
