DSC_0900Our dedicated and enthusiastic army of volunteers fuel every facet of 826 Boston’s free programs. Join a troop of more than 6,000 teachers, students, and writers from across Boston and:

  • help a student read a book in our after-school program
  • tutor the burgeoning author of the next Great American Novel
  • guide the students on our Student Editorial Board
  • craft the perfect capstone event for our annual Write-A-Thon
  • man the helm of the Greater Boston Bigfoot Research Institute

If you’re interested in learning more about volunteering, attend one of our upcoming volunteer orientations:

Thursday, August 6th, 6:00-8:00 PM

If you have any questions about volunteering with us, please contact Ben Smith at ben@826boston.org or 617-442-5400.

The best part of volunteering at 826 Boston is the sense of ‘possibility’ that is always palpable. New worlds are being created constantly. Not only worlds of imagination and learning, but also a world where every student can realize their own gifts. I always leave with the feeling that things just might be alright.”

-Ben Sugar, 826 Boston volunteer extraordinaire

If you’re interested in tutoring, leading a workshop, or working with 826 Boston in any way, attend a new volunteer meeting! All volunteers are required to attend an orientation & training which lasts about two hours. We will go over all the programming we run, helpful tips & tricks, role-play our new tutoring skills, and talk about strategies for working with students of different ages, skills, and needs.
