“All Love and Safety to Our Neighbors” — A Community Event for Immigration Justice

826 Boston, in partnership with Wee The People and I’m Your Neighbor Books, invites community members to attend “All Love and Safety to Our Neighbors: A Community Event for Immigration Justice” on Tuesday, November 18, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at 826 Boston’s After-School Tutoring center, 3035 Washington Street in Roxbury’s Egleston Square.

This free, family-friendly event will celebrate stories of immigration, belonging, and community care through an evening of storytelling, dialogue, and art making.

From Wee The People:
“For immigrant communities of color, storytelling is crucial to affirming our humanity and countering the dehumanization and marginalization we face. These stories, rich with history and cultural pride, have transformative power and carry a special urgency in this political moment, when our safety and dignity is under devastating attack. When we celebrate these stories, we send a clear message: We will not accept the devaluing of anyone, child or adult, in our human family.”

From I’m Your Neighbor Books:
“Books and stories are a sanctuary—a place of safety, hope, and healing. I’m Your Neighbor Books is excited to explore how this gathering—empowered by books—can extend that safety, hope, and healing into the community.”

The program will include a bilingual read-aloud of Abuelita and Me/Abuelita y Yo by author Leonarda Carranza, followed by an 826 Boston student panel, community art-making, and a book giveaway from I’m Your Neighbor Books. Attendees will have a chance to reflect, connect, and imagine a more just and welcoming world.

Food and refreshments will be provided. This is a free event, but registration is required.
