“I’m running so fast I can’t breathe
oh no
so sore, so sore, so sore”

-Simone, age 14

On Thursday, April 12, we went the (admittedly very short) distance for young authors at our second annual Half Half Half Half Half Marathon.

Despite the rain, more than 130 runners competed in this grueling test of endurance on Boston Common. Congrats to top finishers Kenneth King, Jair Ayalas (an 826 Boston student and volunteer!), and Ricardo Palau.

We set out to beat a PR this year: $30,000 to support our free youth writing and publishing programs. We ran right past our goal, raising a total of $30,400. Whether you’re a writer/runner, a runner/writer, or were a supporter of one of the teams, we appreciate your contributions to this successful event!

Thanks to our event sponsors for making this event possible: to Candlewick PressGolden Girl Granola, and Papagayo for sponsoring the after-party, and to Scott Magoon, illustrator of The New York Times’ best-selling Rescue and Jessica: A Life-Changing Friendship, for celebrating with us.
