On May 23, Night of 1,000 Stories dazzled—and no one shone more than our incredible students. From the award-winning 826 Boston Slam Poetry Team from the Writers’ Room at the John D. O’Bryant High School of Math and Science to the charismatic emcees (and recently published authors!) from Boston International Newcomers Academy, these 826 Boston student ambassadors stole the show.

Between the synchronized clacks of typewriter keys (a performance from The Boston Typewriter Orchestra), and the moving performances of the 826 Boston Slam Poetry Team, we had a wonderful time celebrating the past ten years of 826 Boston programming. The evening was studded with VIP guests, including Dave Eggers, WBUR’s Maria Garcia, and 826 Boston’s volunteers of the year Barbara Sheffels and Jonathan Rowe.

Des Linden, the winner of the 2018 Boston Marathon chose 826 Boston for her choice of charity for the Abbott World Marathon Majors’ first annual charity program. We are thrilled to say that, in total, we raised more than $300,000 thanks to our generous sponsors and donors.
