826 Boston Just Keeps Growing

September 26, 2019

The 826 Boston team outside of the Egleston Tutoring Center.

In the last year, we’ve sure been busy at 826 Boston. Since last September, we’ve opened three new Writers’ Rooms, grown our base of volunteers, and increased the number of students that we serve. But that’s not the only exciting news. In the past two months, we’ve more than doubled the size of the 826 Boston team! This July and August, we welcomed six new staff members and 21 new service members from AmeriCorps VISTA and a new state AmeriCorps partnership with the Massachusetts Service Alliance. We’re now officially a team of 42 people!

Our expanded crew couldn’t be more excited to dive into the new school year–opening another new Writers’ Room at the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers on the Northeastern University campus, writing and publishing lots of new student work, and most importantly getting to meet and work with all of 826 Boston’s students, families and incredible volunteers.
