The 826 Boston Slam Poetry Team, comprised of three seniors and one eighth-grade student at the John D. O’Bryant School of Math and Science, were crowned state champions at the 2018 Mass LEAP Louder Than a Bomb competition. Watch the team’s show-stopping performance here.

Senior Mariama placed first in the individual category. She will go on to represent the state of Massachusetts at the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam Festival, powered by Youth Speaks, July 18-21, in Houston, Texas.

Congratulations to the team on their hard work this season, and best of luck to Mariama as she advances in the competition.
