826 Boston Speaks Up for Arts Funding

August 25, 2018

826 Boston has received funding for the last several years from the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency, making it possible to provide vital arts education and outlets for creative expression for young people. Of course, a strong arts education program requires strong arts funding. But for the past four years, securing even level funding for the arts has been an uphill battle on Beacon Hill. Along with our partners at MASSCreative, 826 Boston spoke up for arts funding this year. Legislative leaders took note: a bipartisan majority of state legislators voted to override vetoes and increase the Mass Cultural Council budget.

Mass Cultural Council Executive Director Anita Walker praised the move, noting that “advocates made sure their voices were heard in this budget debate.” Please join 826 Boston in thanking your elected officials for this endorsement of our work and for setting aside these vital funds.
