We let our imaginations run wild during our Creative Writing Workshops over April vacation with a full-day field trip to the Franklin Park Zoo.
Using the inspiration from the animals they encountered, students ages 9-11 designed their own zany animal stories, from ice dogs who live in snow forts and whose red eyes help keep them warm, to “glions,” native to Mars, who (fun fact) don’t actually glow—they shine.
More than 100 students participated in April break workshops, including a poetry session led by Boston-based poet Harry Harding; a mindfulness, yoga, and journaling lesson led by Commonwealth Corps Service Member Christina Amen; and a workshop where students created original dystopian worlds.
