“I had to fight for what I believed as I got older.” —”Marquis de Lafayette”, written by Victor Tejada, Robentina Valeus, and Teddy Baez
Twelfth-grade English students at Boston International Newcomers Academy wrote a collection called “Moments in my Memory” made up of poems, spoken word pieces, and raps based on primary-source historical documents. They went on to perform their work for their peers at a celebration hosted in the Writers’ Room. Three students were later chosen to perform their song on a much larger stage—at the Boston Opera House—as part of a student showcase during a class trip to see Hamilton, presented by the Hamilton Education Program.
