Eating Books for Breakfast

November 1, 2018

LEISE JONES PHOTOGRAPHY

Our literary breakfast was a hit once again. Thanks to our incredible community of early risers, we raised more than $175,000. Guests were moved by student speakers Samantha and Damilare, who learned to love writing in our Writers’ Rooms. We also celebrated the upcoming opening of our fifth Writers’ Room at the Rafael Hernández School by rekindling the words and voices of then 5th grade student authors in I’m a Flame You Can’t Put Out.

Our featured speaker, chef and author Joanne Chang, took the stage and captivated the crowd with a story of harnessing writing as a tool to create a vision for her life and leadership. We are so grateful to all of our sponsors, event committee members, and board members who are deeply committed to furthering the vision and expansion of 826 Boston.
