Five students from Boston International Newcomers Academy (BINcA) Writers’ Room recently got the opportunity to have their writing performed by professional singers during White Snake Projects’ Sing Out Strong: DeColonized Voices.
While it was originally planned for BINcA to host one of the several planned community performances, the event was instead presented in a Zoom concert hall on May 13.
Professional composers and musicians brought the students’ writing to life, reflecting on the effects of colonialism in nuanced and powerful ways.
