The Jeremiah E. Burke High School Writers’ Room recently welcomed a very special visitor—State Senator Liz Miranda. Last month, the senator—who is a John D. O’Bryant School of Math & Science alumna—spent time visiting students and learning about the incredible work that’s happening in the 826 Boston Writers’ Room.
“Two hours were not enough to experience all the joy, creativity, and innovation existing in the school, but we tried!” she wrote in a recent Instagram post. The senator was joined by musician and actor Dino D’Santiago.
The next day, the senator attended Books for Breakfast, 826 Boston’s annual breakfast fundraiser, where she shared stories of her youth, citing that “education changed my life” and expressing her belief in how critical 826 Boston’s mission is.
We are beyond grateful to Senator Miranda for taking the time to meet with students, 826 Boston team members, donors, and volunteers—and for always finding ways to amplify student voices!
