Speeches can offer hope, inspire action, and change the course of history. On Friday, February 23, middle-school students learned how to move the masses using the power of words at a full-day field trip to theĀ Edward M. Kennedy Institute, an 826 Boston Creative Writing Workshop over February break.

These young authors heard examples of famous speeches throughout history, crafted their own speeches in support of an issue that is important to them, and practiced delivering them in the full-scale U.S. Senate Chamber at the Kennedy Institute. Boston City Council representative Matt O’Malley was among the captivated audience.
