We’re so excited to share that we’re the recipient of a grant through the Cummings Foundation’s $25 Million Grant Program. 826 Boston was chosen from a total of 580 applicants during a competitive review process. We’ll receive $400,000 over 10 years.
“We are so grateful to the Cummings Foundation for their belief in the power of writing —that it empowers youth to express themselves, voice their perspectives, and take action on issues that matter to them,” said 826 Boston Development Director Jenna Leschuk. “The Foundation’s earlier support allowed us to expand our After-School Writing and Tutoring Program, then our Writers’ Room Program in Boston Public Schools. This new gift will enable us to deepen that work over the next few years, expanding programs to more school communities. Young people have vibrant stories to tell, and writing is such a critical skill for future success. We appreciate the partnership of the Cummings Foundation in this important work.”
The Cummings $25 Million Grant Program supports Massachusetts nonprofits that are based in and primarily serve Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties.
